CASA means Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children. In Spanish, casa also means home. Both meanings are at the heart of our work.

Every day, Hill Country CASA advocates for children in foster care and helps move them toward what every child deserves: a safe, secure, permanent home where they can thrive.

Now, we are asking our community to help restore the home that makes much of that work possible.

Flooding in July 2026 caused extensive damage to the Hill Country CASA offices and the adjacent Peterson Visitation Center. Damaged flooring, walls, furnishings, and materials had to be removed, forcing CASA staff into a much smaller temporary space and closing rooms used by children, families, CASA volunteers, attorneys, caseworkers, therapists, and community partners.

Before the flood, the Peterson Visitation Center provided warm, child-centered spaces where:

• Children could spend meaningful time with their families
• CASA volunteers and staff could meet privately with children and caregivers
• Attorneys, caseworkers, therapists, and service providers could collaborate
• Families could access clothing, personal care items, and other practical support
• Community partners could provide trauma-informed services in a comfortable setting

These were more than offices and meeting rooms. They were places where children could feel at ease, families could connect with dignity, and difficult work could happen with privacy and care.

Our 2026–2027 Bring CASA Home campaign seeks to raise $50,000 to help repair, restore, and refurnish these essential spaces. Campaign support will help:

• Repair and replace flood-damaged areas
• Furnish three trauma-informed visitation and meeting rooms
• Restore private spaces for advocacy and family support
• Replace technology needed for in-person, virtual, and hybrid collaboration
• Reopen the Peterson Visitation Center to children, families, and community partners

This campaign is not simply about repairing a building. It is about restoring a place designed for connection, dignity, healing, and hope.
